Struck First gives you a first look at a cosplay just as it's been debuted/had its first photoshoot. Cosplayers have been kind enough to let me have a first crack at analyzing the cosplay by providing me with brand new pictures.
I got to see my wonderful friend League of Larcy at Boston Comic Con who went up and debuted her amazing Shedinja gijinka there. I managed to hang out with her for a little while at the con but immediately wanted to get a chance to share it here afterwards. With that in mind this is going to be similar in some ways to my collab with Mink the Satyr a few months back <3. I'll talk briefly about the cosplay and then leave Larcy to tell you the rest. She gave me some rad info on its creation plus funny stories too! I imagine Shedinja is a favorite bug Pokemon to Larcy otherwise she wouldn't have chosen him. Dubbed "Final Boss Shedinja" it looks pretty much as to how a final boss would look like. Probably for an action game or maybe a small scale RPG? In either case, I was blown away by this outfit and imagine this tested some new skills for Larcy. So growing as a cosplayer is one thing she can happily check off as being accomplished with this outfit!

EVA Foam and LED's are just some of the material used in this cosplay. I love how the mask/helmet looks and the blades look so badass in some of the shots. The halo up at the top is one aspect that lights up (or possibly the only one?) and the wings look light enough to be wearable for Larcy. I think though, I'll wrap up my quick take and have her explain the rest!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
So!
I made Shed mostly out of EVA foam, with the addition of craft foam, some floral
foam and lots of contact cement! I coated everything in Plastidip. The fake
screws are googly eyes, my halo is held on my two pinning needles, XD the
swords are from the army barracks and modified to buggy perfection. The leotard
is from Amazon because long story short, making a body suit fucking sucks! I
made THREE body suits before I gave up because I hated them. The wing span was
free drawn by me and MAGNETIZED to my back! Underneath my clothes is a small,
matching backpack with the magnets that it attaches to, so it looks like it’s
just naturally there. :D I had a good time crafting this with my boyfriend who
did most of the armor while I did the design and detailing. He deserves lots of
credit!
All
the LED’s are hot glued on very carefully, and I actually had under glow under
my shoulder pieces too. I am working on the helmet having LED’s eventually as
well. And maybe some slashes in my armor for effect! Attached are some pictures
of us struggling along <3. We actually bought a booklet of basic foam armor
crafting and modified different pieces to make the look we wanted, especially
the helmet, shoulder and hip pieces. The helmet is coated in craft foam to make
the style we needed! I’ll also attach the original character, from Super
Evolution, a Facebook/mobile game that personifies Pokémon!
Side
story: the first time we tried to attach my wings, we got some of the magnets
backward so it rejected it. SO, we did this big reveal where we threw the wings
onto my back with the idea that it was going to snap into place no problem.
Instead it rejected super hard and flew off me! I did a funny video where I
actually HAD the wings on correctly but ended up flinging them off because I
was so excited! Fun fact, took 3 hours for Justin to glue the LED’s to the
wings. 3 hours the night before BCC. He said he would come to bed at 8 and
never came to bed LOL. Another fun fact: the base of my outfit is the same
black bathing suit I used for 4 other cosplays this year LOL.

Hopefully that gave you all a solid look into Larcy's creation process for Shedinja! I'm so incredibly proud of both her and her BF for creating something so incredibly badass :D. Please check out more of League of Larcy's work with the link below <3.
