Shutting One Door, Keeping others Open

UPDATED ON 8/20/21: Facebook, Patreon and Blog IG pages have been shutdown/discontinued As the COVID pandemic rages on and cons are even shutting down into 2021, it got me thinking on a drive home one night about how I'd feel with even coming back to blogging. When cons eventually do come back at some point. Truth be told, many of the posts and content I shared here could be transferred over to more discussions via my podcast CosplayBytes. I've been blogging my love for games, cons and cosplay for 7 years now and maybe it's time to say goodbye for now? My podcast has gotten me some incredible opportunities as a member of Press for conventions, and the rapid love I've had for streaming is also taking up a lot of time now. On top of multiple personal things on my end, I don't think I have the energy to keep this up even post COVID you know? The very first cosplay centered post I wrote was on Jessica Nigri's Deadpool, and since then it's spawned over 800 posts

Product Review: Coloured Contacts!

This post is sponsored by Coloured Contacts! They sent me a few pairs of their lens to take a look at and Review! In addition, I'll be taking a look at certain parts of their website that are helpful for potential new buyers! Due to my own personal concerns, I decided to not wear them for this review however, I definitely plan on trying them at a con with some help!

Cosplayers certainly take on a lot when creating an outfit for their favorite character. Some even go the extra mile and even role-play as the character. Dozens upon dozens of accessories are available for cosplayers to utilize and one such element are colored contacts. For me, I haven't really used contacts at all but certainly appreciated those that went that extra mile. The amazing folks over at Coloured Contacts wanted to send me a few pairs to try and look at which I was immediately interested in. Given control on what to pick out, I went with ones that matched up with my Prompto and (soon to debut) KH3 Riku cosplays. They arrived in a small package with several boxes and cases which I'll get into further down in the post. Oh and don't worry, plenty of pics were taken!

The pairs I ordered were the Sky Blue 2-Tone for Prompto and Mystic Turquoise for KH3 Riku. Coloured Contacts also added in the Ice Walker design (named possibly for the GoT residing creatures) as a bonus thinking I would like them as well. The boxes each pair came in had this colorful design on the front (I'm a sucker for good design) with some product info on the back plus a window into the actual lens. Each lens were separately packaged in a solution containment. They also packed in a solution they developed for disinfecting and cleaning the lens. Since that was recommended in their tutorials, I went ahead and placed them within the solution which I added in each of the containers.

Speaking of which, the containers were varying in color and also labeled so you know which lens you are potentially missing. I've never used contacts before so I was kinda surprised at how soft the lenses were, it seems I was expecting a harder material.

Ice Walker

The Ice Walker lens definitely have an appealing design to them as CC described them to me. The ice blue shade is certainly one that can attract cosplayers who are cosplaying ice based characters. It took me a little while to nail down what eye color that Riku has in KH3 because apparently the color has changed from game to game. Through viewing CC's extensive catalog and some of the best images I could find, I went with Mystic Turquoise. This shade definitely has a beautiful look to them as well as that hint of green in them. It's probably the closest I can get to Riku's eye color and if it happens to be spot on when I play the game, then SWEET :D

Mystic Turquoise
Lastly, the Sky Blue 2-Tone shade is just that. Having natural blue eyes, I can only see this shade even further making my eyes that specific shade which is what Prompto has in FFXV. There's plenty of tutorials and blog posts on Coloured Contacts website to help you out on placing/removing contacts and selecting ones that are best suited for you. They also showed me their Virtual Mirror feature and a new Gallery option. The former shows a virtual human face and allows you to see what each design of contacts will look on them and by extension, yourself.

This has to be the best way to finalize your selection once you've picked one out through their Gallery. This part of the website gives you the ability to look up certain products through a variety of ways! From colors, to ones used by other affiliates of Coloured Contacts and even video features! Below are the various other pics I took of the lenses I received in addition to the packaging and cases!

I was extremely pleased with how responsive Coloured Contacts was to my concerns and questions that I had. The lenses all look exactly as they were advertised plus their website is very user friendly. I'm looking forward to trying these contacts when it comes time for conventions!
