Struck First gives you a first look at a cosplay just as it's been debuted/had its first photoshoot. Cosplayers have been kind enough to let me have a first crack at analyzing the cosplay by providing me with brand new pictures.
Throughout July, I want to share certain ladies I know that took part in the amazing Shadow of the Colossus group at Colossalcon earlier this month! Spearheaded by Stella Chuu, she gathered 16 other cosplayers to portray cute designs of the remaining Colossus' PLUS the protagonist, Wander! All of these were designed by artist Shigatake! Having just watched the Game Grumps playthrough of this game, majority of the Colossus' are fresh in my head. Though for my lovely friend Vanity Fox, her chosen giant was one that stayed with me after I had seen Barba for the first time. Mainly due to the fact that the main gimmick to beat her is the giant beard. That's definitely present here with the piece of fur that's hanging down Casey's chest coming in from the neck. Armor wise, EVA Foam was used for every piece. It seems that some of the designs weren't crazy in its full look.

The armor work consists of shoulder pieces, arm guards, and leg coverage. The pieces have this sweet layered look and the detailing really looks as if each Colossus is just a decrepit/aged building. Of course, the added moss helps with that aging effect. That part specifically was done almost last minute as all the girls came together to help place moss on each other. Yay teamwork! Casey is rocking a beautiful pastel blue wig, with small horns coming out of it. Horns are definitely one element that's common in all the designs.
Fur is also used as a lower covering for the wrist pieces. Casey most likely improvised with the pants area by having the bottom part of what looks to be the infamous spider-kini. Straps can be seen all throughout her arms to keep the armor in place. The leg armor is placed close together to look as if they're giant columns! Small patches of white can be seen on her face along with her weak-spot on one of her hands. I also viewed some of this progress done through her Patreon and it got me amped to see it done!
The open field/grass scenery at Colossalcon really makes for gorgeous photos and Casey did such a phenomenal job on this cosplay. Seeing builds like this done by her really shows her growth as a cosplayer and her work consistently makes me happy. Check out the other shots I grabbed and VIEW THE AWESOMENESS!
