Cosplay Feature: Laney Feni's Supergirl!

Photo by Maze Studio The last time I shared cosplayer Laney Feni, it was via her amazing Fem Aquaman cosplay she did a few years ago. Originally for today's piece I wanted to gush over how stellar she looks in her Post-Apocalyptic version of Supergirl but that led me to sharing with you another version that's more of the character's classic look. If you were to dive into her cosplay portfolio, Laney has definitely cosplayed Kara Zor-El numerous times but this version draws heavy inspiration in both the design and feel of the old Zack Snyder take on Superman. Between this classic design and the other variant I mentioned earlier, the only difference really boils down to pants and the cape's use. We'll get to that later of course! For starters, Kara's look here consists of a long sleeved tank top like piece and pants with the midriff being shown. I'm pretty sure that this is Laney's natural hair too which really is perfect for Supergirl!

Cosplay Showcase: Knightmage's Black Adam!

Apologies if it's taken me this long to share Knightmage's impeccable work on here for today. Having constantly known of him in passing, I thought it was good a time as any to go through his portfolio of work. That and this month being the yearly #28DaysOfBlackCosplay movement, I thought it was appropriate as well. All that aside, Knightmage's Black Adam is truly one hell of a display of skills. Not only in the craftsmanship of the suit, but in the makeup and photoshoot that followed suit of its completion. I believe Injustice was around the corner when this cosplay was created, either that or Michael had a genuine love for the character and wanted to do him justice. Or perhaps Injustice would be more suited as a term? Black Adam's suit shares similarities to his counterpart Shazam in terms of construction and appearance. A full on black suit with gold in various areas. Mainly on the cape and armor pieces.

The suit in itself looks very much like the muscle suits you'd see at party stores in mimicking the outlandish physiques comic book characters have. The suit though was airbrushed on (my guess anyways) to achieve such details. Between his legs, a tabard is draped below the belt. Gold accent lines decorating the trim, this is also seen again throughout the outside of his cape. Speaking of which, the belt is detailed with jagged lines and a triangle smack dab in the middle.

The leg armor, and bracelets look to have been done in the same material as the belt. The chest symbol looks insanely impressive with its weathering detail/work. The reversed lightning bolt of Shazam stands out in nearly all the photos. Seriously if you look at the before and after pics in terms of the details added in, you'll be amazed. The cape is incredible and in some shots, look as if armor was added in for the shoulders. The popped up collar area holds pretty well by the looks of things, and its length overall is just perfect.

I mentioned before how Knightmage's makeup is incredible here. All the photos show him just emulating so much power and rage, something you rarely see in cosplay photography. Or at the very least, stuff I don't feel/see myself. His S/O Gwen did a fabulous job in capturing the raw strength that Black Adam is known for. Take a look at the other shots and maybe you'll understand what I'm getting at!

Definitely check out Knightmage's work over on FB! His passion for the characters he portrays is something you can't deny. Definitely a pioneer in the cosplay world from all the things I've heard of him!
