Cosplay Feature: Laney Feni's Supergirl!

Photo by Maze Studio The last time I shared cosplayer Laney Feni, it was via her amazing Fem Aquaman cosplay she did a few years ago. Originally for today's piece I wanted to gush over how stellar she looks in her Post-Apocalyptic version of Supergirl but that led me to sharing with you another version that's more of the character's classic look. If you were to dive into her cosplay portfolio, Laney has definitely cosplayed Kara Zor-El numerous times but this version draws heavy inspiration in both the design and feel of the old Zack Snyder take on Superman. Between this classic design and the other variant I mentioned earlier, the only difference really boils down to pants and the cape's use. We'll get to that later of course! For starters, Kara's look here consists of a long sleeved tank top like piece and pants with the midriff being shown. I'm pretty sure that this is Laney's natural hair too which really is perfect for Supergirl!

Why She's my Favorite: Yaya Han

You pretty much can't go around searching about Cosplay without having Yaya Han's name popping up! She's been cosplaying for an incredibly long time and has been a pioneer in popularizing it to the mainstream media. It's not just her incredibly gorgeous looks, but her immaculate display of craftsmanship, love and creativity as well that has led to her gaining so much notoriety. She was one of the cosplayers I first found again through Jessica Nigri and while I haven't seen her many times, I can tell you that each time she has been nothing but sweet and welcoming to me. From giving me cosplay support and heartwarming advice, Yaya always cheers me on at conventions when I see her.

Not to mention the fact that she's impressed by my new outfits each time I show her something new which means so much to me coming from her. Seriously go look at her website and her extensive portfolio. I don't even come CLOSE to her talent, but I cosplay for the rewarding experiences it's given me which is one of the many reasons she pushes for in promoting cosplay. I sometimes don't understand the hate she gets but she's incredible for dealing with it maturely.

I plan on hopefully being able to see her at NYCC again this year (provided her line isn't crazy long) excited to show her my latest outfit. Plus, Yaya seems to be supportive of my blog and has taken notice of the strong positive voice I have in the community...otherwise I don't know why else she'd be following me on Twitter!!

To Yaya, thank you for being an incredibly kind person towards me. Your support for my cosplays and encouraging words always helps whenever I feel discouraged. I may not be able to make as many outfits as you can, but I put lots of love in them, and I think you see that. I miss you lots and look forward to seeing you in a few months <3
