Shutting One Door, Keeping others Open

UPDATED ON 8/20/21: Facebook, Patreon and Blog IG pages have been shutdown/discontinued As the COVID pandemic rages on and cons are even shutting down into 2021, it got me thinking on a drive home one night about how I'd feel with even coming back to blogging. When cons eventually do come back at some point. Truth be told, many of the posts and content I shared here could be transferred over to more discussions via my podcast CosplayBytes. I've been blogging my love for games, cons and cosplay for 7 years now and maybe it's time to say goodbye for now? My podcast has gotten me some incredible opportunities as a member of Press for conventions, and the rapid love I've had for streaming is also taking up a lot of time now. On top of multiple personal things on my end, I don't think I have the energy to keep this up even post COVID you know? The very first cosplay centered post I wrote was on Jessica Nigri's Deadpool, and since then it's spawned over 800 posts

STRUCK FIRST: ToughTink as Rainbow Road Peach!

Struck First gives you a first look at a cosplay just as it's been debuted/had its first photoshoot. Cosplayers have been kind enough to let me have a first crack at analyzing the cosplay by providing me with brand new pictures.

Oh man did I instantly go nuts over this cosplay from ToughTink when I saw images pop up online. Combining the famous Mushroom Kingdom princess with the colorful and starry Rainbow Road was a mashup I never really thought of before. Designed up by Tink herself, this has the initial design of Peach's iconic dress however the pink is traded in for black and gold. From the top, you have a bright blonde wig with the classic hairstyle that Peach is known to have. Including the various wefts and curls at the top as it travels down her backside. The shoulders have that puffy look in a very shiny gold color. Seriously this cosplay as a whole sparkles like nobodies business :O. The main bodice portion starts off in black before transitioning into gold with various giant stars plastered on. Much like the original design, you have a single resin stone/brooch in the center.

When you get towards the waist, that's when the giant ballgown comes into play. Here, full on black makes up the color scheme with small gold sparkles alongside giant stars along the bottom. There's also several rainbow fabric pieces draped up near the top of this gown. As you go down the cosplay, you'll distinctly see an opening in the middle with gold fabric poking through. What made me love this cosplay even more is the transformation option Tink installed on this cosplay. The massive gown elements can be removed and that top portion becomes the main affair as it's really a stunning dress.

The gold strands hang off and pretty much encircle the outfit all around. For the bottom half, Tink looks to be wearing comfy black leggings and tops it off with black heels. For a prop, she is seen wielding an umbrella that's of course tinted in various colors to form a rainbow. There's also Peach's crown nestled on top of the wig which is so dang cute. Also, Tink has black arm sleeves which also sparkle cause why not? The photos here make them look like they're of a felt like material. From the way the dress is segmented out, to the colors and fabric choices, I'm just fangirling at this point with how much I love it. Check out the endless amount of shots I found of this cosplay :).
