Cosplay Feature: Wumbo's Monoco!

Photo by David Ngo Happy February! I hope you had an amazing start to your new year and that you're excited to learn about the amazing cosplays that are out there for 2026. The cosplay community usually dubs the one-two punch of MAGFest & Katsucon as the kickoff for the convention season. I spent the last month or so gathering cosplays that as of today's date, all stem from the former! I also am insanely excited that many of these I'm about to share are first time write-ups for the creators themselves. Today, you get a look at Wumbo's masterful recreation of known feet lover Monoco from 2025's Game of the Year, Expedition 33! In looking at some of the photo posts on her instagram, she made all of this by herself so I don't have to worry about adding in extra creators who may have assisted with design files etc. Quick backstory, Monoco is the last party member you add to your team who's a longtime friend of Verso and gained a grasp on the English language...

Cosplay Feature: Bodacious Cosplay's Medieval Deku!

I feel that as long as cosplay is around, mashups will be a staple for every character that's been created and is ripe for the portrayal. Whether it's the various gijinkas of animal like characters, to combining franchises with each other like Disney and Star Wars. All forms of media are pretty much subjected to this case and anime is certainly not a stranger. Today, I have the marvelous Bodacious Cosplay as the incredibly lovable Deku from My Hero Academia. The spin on the character taken imagines Deku as part of a larger medieval world. What does that entail exactly? A simple outfit with callbacks to the hero's main color scheme of green and white.

There has been some official like art of this alternate version of Deku so what exactly does the cosplay consist of? As I mentioned, the top piece matches the green of the character. Mainly a green vest on top of a white dress shirt. Gloves cover Brandon's hands and weapon wise, you can see a simple sword act as a prop. The sword is a basic design with the colors being mostly grey. It's scabbard can be seen hanging off the hip alongside the blue jeans.

There are also several pouches hanging in this general area, I have to wonder if one of them houses Deku's hero journal/notebook! The wig is a bright shade of green with a variety of spikes sticking out, it's a great match for the holder of One for All! All the photos are taken outdoors and I couldn't think of a better scenery for this. The way the sunlight hits in some of the pics matches Deku's overall optimism in the show. Plus, Brandon does an absolutely wonderful job in posing, some of those sword shots look BADASS :D.
