Shutting One Door, Keeping others Open

UPDATED ON 8/20/21: Facebook, Patreon and Blog IG pages have been shutdown/discontinued As the COVID pandemic rages on and cons are even shutting down into 2021, it got me thinking on a drive home one night about how I'd feel with even coming back to blogging. When cons eventually do come back at some point. Truth be told, many of the posts and content I shared here could be transferred over to more discussions via my podcast CosplayBytes. I've been blogging my love for games, cons and cosplay for 7 years now and maybe it's time to say goodbye for now? My podcast has gotten me some incredible opportunities as a member of Press for conventions, and the rapid love I've had for streaming is also taking up a lot of time now. On top of multiple personal things on my end, I don't think I have the energy to keep this up even post COVID you know? The very first cosplay centered post I wrote was on Jessica Nigri's Deadpool, and since then it's spawned over 800 posts

Cosplay Feature: Nick Poulos' Taric!

There's some League of Legends characters who designs are so insane, that I question truly how some cosplayers were able to bring them to life. Such is the case today with Nick Poulos and Taric. Taric by appearance looks to be of the tank variety. The knight style suit is more so on the regal side with blue gem inserts as well as the emblem/gem that's centered on his chest. That bigger gem is outlined with a gold border. The armored portions look to be done with foam and pretty much cover Nick from the neck down. Some pieces like those on his legs have blue studs on the edge and near the border of them. There's also the giant mace which is visible in the shots and I have to say, it looks so freaking badass. The way Nick is wielding it suggests that it was probably made of a light material since it's shown being held with ease.

Yes, I purposefully left out talking about the obvious "elephant in the room" part of this cosplay up till this point of the feature. Taric's main aspect is the giant blue crystals coming out of both pauldrons and either side of the mace. Insulated foam or styrofoam were probably used because I can't imagine both parts being wearable if they were done differently. I think his partner Danielle Beaulieu helped out in certain areas unless I'm wrong in which case forgive me for that. Getting lower in the cosplay, a tabard can be seen poking out from the upper thigh armor pieces.

Like the armor pieces, the mace has spikes coming out around the ends, and blue studs decorating the head itself, as well as the pommel down at the bottom. The photos really highlight the cosplay as a whole with some focus on the giant blue crystals. This isn't Nick's first go at Taric either, I believe last year him and Danielle debuted a "sexy Pink Taric group" and holy crap was it hilarious. I don't have pics of that group for you guys but I'm sure you'll appreciate the pics I picked out of this cosplay!

While Nick isn't really active on his page anymore, he's made some impressive LoL cosplays. Nowadays he helps out Danielle with her outfits along with shooting them for her! I really enjoyed meeting him at PAX East this year. Check out his page, you won't be disappointed :D
