Cosplay Feature: Maru's Celes Chere!

It's somewhat fitting that the day I'm writing this, there was a big Final Fantasy panel at PAX East the other day. It was focused on the franchise's upcoming crossover set with Magic the Gathering. While new cards were revealed from each mainline entry, not everything was shown. You can be damn sure Celes will be one of the cards representing VI's inclusion. Maru is a cosplayer who I've admired for years with watching her work from afar. The pace at which she's able to create cosplays has been nothing short of astonishing. In looking for something new of hers to talk about, I knew I had a lot to pick from. It helps she's just as big of a Final Fantasy fan as I am. Her Celes Chere is just jaw-droppingly beautiful. Starting from the top, you have a small yellow jacket with some open areas on her arms. The jacket itself also has some brown trim lines going along the edge.
The main piece after the jacket looks to be a corset done up in purple with gold etching/symbols added in. That is until you get to the madness that is her many belts wrapped around her waist. I'm curious if this is based on an artist's rendition or more in-line with her traditional/classic art. In any case, yea there's a LOT of sashes, ribbons and belts more along Maru's side. The pink really stands out here mostly with a deep velvet like purple making up the main bow.

It certainly feels like a main piece for this area because it transforms into a more dress like element as you travel down. Yellow pants are visible with the sides featuring that familiar opening with brown trim lines. Matching up with her arm sleeves, these open areas have brown lines criss-crossing over each other as if they were laced up. Various bracelets are shown on each sleeve in addition to a small neck choker.

For footwear, Maru has long white boots with heels in the back. The bottoms have a golden coloring/trim to them and you can see lace like areas alongside the bottom and very top. Maru is seen donning a blonde wig with long ends traveling down from the front. Oh and of course I'm gonna mention the weaponry! For this Mage Knight, Maru has a beautifully crafted blade that's more on the slender side. The hilt & armguard are more bronze gold in color with some white crystals sticking outward on the guard. The blade itself continues the former color as a thin line on one side while blue and silver make up the bulk of the main blade.

Can I also mention how the posing is incredibly accurate? Maru elegantly plays with the sword in some of the shots whereas others more so invoke scenes/moments from the game. The shot of her on the right along the beach recalls the opening moments to me of the second half of the game. The party being fully separated as Kefka takes command of the new World of Ruin. You guys just have to let me know what you think of the remaining shots I have to share. Maru once again crushed it with this build and I'm excited to see what she's able to do next!
