Cosplay Feature: Wumbo's Monoco!

Photo by David Ngo Happy February! I hope you had an amazing start to your new year and that you're excited to learn about the amazing cosplays that are out there for 2026. The cosplay community usually dubs the one-two punch of MAGFest & Katsucon as the kickoff for the convention season. I spent the last month or so gathering cosplays that as of today's date, all stem from the former! I also am insanely excited that many of these I'm about to share are first time write-ups for the creators themselves. Today, you get a look at Wumbo's masterful recreation of known feet lover Monoco from 2025's Game of the Year, Expedition 33! In looking at some of the photo posts on her instagram, she made all of this by herself so I don't have to worry about adding in extra creators who may have assisted with design files etc. Quick backstory, Monoco is the last party member you add to your team who's a longtime friend of Verso and gained a grasp on the English language...

Cosplay Feature: Jessilyn Cupcake's Vex!

When there's Borderlands news, there's cosplayers that are hit with a fervor to make the outfits as quick as possible. This includes when the characters themselves have very little renders/models outside of the initial debut trailers. Jessilyn Cupcake is one such creator. When she's not doing the multitudes of Moxxi cosplays across the series or even Moxxi Bar signs, she's eager to learn more about the upcoming Borderlands 4 releasing later this year. In terms of which character she made, today I have her Vex who's designated as the Siren class/character for the game itself. It of course wouldn't be a Borderlands cosplay without the signature cel-shading effects that you can see pretty much everywhere on Jessilyn. From the weapon prop, to the jacket and even face make up + the wig!

The speed at which Jess was able to crank this out for a debut at PAX East earlier this month never ceases to amaze me. The color scheme for Vex here is mostly on the black and pink end. The jacket itself being full black with some pink added in on the inside. It's definitely visible on the collar portions. Underneath the jacket, you got a crop top that has a very armor-like design to it. Jessilyn's skill level with the cel-shading effect has me second guessing which areas are just painted on and which ones are added on armor pieces themselves. I feel that the latter portions are mostly reserved for the long jeans/pants she has going on at the bottom. You also can see a small choker which has a buckle directly in the middle of it.

The wig work includes a full brown shade and a very short styled look. The way the wig is parted with the effects added in make it look layered up. With Vex being the Siren, you also have to include the various pink markings that Jess has drawn on her chest and one of her arms. The other is fully covered by the jacket sleeve (or is it a sleeve related to the crop top?). One of the bracelets has these small black tubes extending outward with pink lines added on to them. I only have one shot that gives a full body look including the pants and based off of that, it looks like both legs have a different design layout to them.

You also get a sense of how long the jacket really is. Full blown trench coat vibes. From what I can see, one of the legs on the pants has a silver armor plating design covering it whereas the other is black like most of the cosplay itself. Footwear includes some black boots with various armored anklets surrounding them. These are also colored grey with some pink inserts added in. The weapon being shown consists of a LOT of red, white and black in its coloring. I'm not sure if this is a new gun made by Jess for Borderlands 4 or if it's one she had as part of her little collection. In any case, it works perfectly with the cosplay as a whole. I feel that the game itself has a LOT of bright colors so having the weapon look like that gives off a great contrast when it's against the outfit as a whole.

If you haven''t yet gone to follow Jessilyn's work I highly recommend you do so! She's in the process of making Mad Moxxi's look for Borderlands 4 so you DON'T want to miss this :D
