The last time I shared cosplayer Laney Feni, it was via her amazing Fem Aquaman cosplay she did a few years ago. Originally for today's piece I wanted to gush over how stellar she looks in her Post-Apocalyptic version of Supergirl but that led me to sharing with you another version that's more of the character's classic look. If you were to dive into her cosplay portfolio, Laney has definitely cosplayed Kara Zor-El numerous times but this version draws heavy inspiration in both the design and feel of the old Zack Snyder take on Superman. Between this classic design and the other variant I mentioned earlier, the only difference really boils down to pants and the cape's use. We'll get to that later of course! For starters, Kara's look here consists of a long sleeved tank top like piece and pants with the midriff being shown. I'm pretty sure that this is Laney's natural hair too which really is perfect for Supergirl!

The shade of blue here is much darker than the early comic looks which had a lighter tone. Then again I supposed that matched up with the same blue that Superman had back then. So much like how time passes on, both characters evolved with their looks. The iconic "S" sigil is laid in the dead center and also matches with the darker tones. Along Laney's sleeves are a few black bands and a golden one close to her wrist. I'm curious if they were made of the same material as her belt was in the other version I have to share.
For the more classic look, the pants seem to have a black pattern placed on her hips that both extend out towards where the belt is and travel down each leg. For the belt here, Laney has it segmented out into three parts. Two long pieces on the side all pointing towards a small golden rectangle in the middle. To round it off, you have the cape which is of course deep red and can be seen in various forms of motion in some of the shots.

Now when it comes to the version directly above, the long pants get traded in for some black shorts. The belt is also swapped for a more complete & enclosed look. I actually think this is also the same cape being used except it's all bundled together and wrapped around Laney's neck. You can also see a little buckle strap wrapped around her torso just below the S on the shirt. It travels up her towards her shoulder almost like a harness. Perhaps this helps holding the cape in place? Then there's also another strap on her thigh with a single black pouch. I imagine this was put there so that she has an easy access container to store her items like a phone, wallet, etc. I really love her posing here as Laney really pulls off that determined stance plus the smirk on her face is so good! Be sure to marvel at the other pics I have to share for you all :).
Whenever I see Laney post one of her many cosplays I just get so excited and happy because I can tell she really does enjoy the hobby alongside these characters she portrays. Would really love to talk about comics with her some day. Maybe I can try to get her on my podcast this year? If you want to see/learn more about Laney, be sure to check out her website down below!
