Neen The Kitchen Magician's Paintress!

The Paintress' overall design in Expedition 33 is both fascinating and yet haunting. As the sole force behind vanishing off people every year, she's become one of few antagonists in the game. Course, through the game's lifespan in cosplay, people mostly tackle the main members of the core Expedition. Whether it's in the traditional uniforms, other alternate costumes or the iconic Baguette outfits. So it's been a real treat to see Neen The Kitchen Magician do a phenomenal job in bringing The Paintress to life. The full outfit is black from head to toe. You have a gown like piece at the bottom with it flowing mostly in the back. It does look like both the bottom and top pieces are segmented into like a long sleeve shirt and long pants. But being full pitch black does give some shots a sense that it's all connected. That even includes the face area which one pic does show that yep, Neen is able to see out of it.

Cosplay Feature: Malicious Cosplay's Sailor Mega Man!

By the time you're reading this, Katsucon will have officially kicked off in the same location as MAGFest. And as I'm typing this up on a Weds, cosplayers have already started making the trek down to the location. "Day Zero" kicks off tomorrow in some instances for creators. With that being said, the cosplay work from MAG is still present in these write-ups! The festival itself always takes on a central theme to the event and it's easily spotted with how the logo is designed. This year, MAGFest took inspiration from the classic Mega Man games using the font/design from Mega Man X. Cosplayer Malicious Cosplay really took that theme to heart by cosplaying as the famous robot but putting a Sailor Scout outfit on him and giving a pretty stellar transformation in the process!

Starting off with the helmet, Malicious really did a phenomenal job in crafting X's iconic headpiece. I'm not entirely sure what materials were used (hopefully Malicious will share posts detailing the process on her Insta!) but you can see that its colored mostly white with the top portion having a gold outline with red in the dead center. The circles protruding out on the sides also have an inner red shade to them. It really is like if X underwent a Sailor Scout transformation. Much of those parts change into white from his classic blue.

However, the blue isn't completely absent here! The main body piece in addition to parts of her sleeves and legs are light blue in nature. A darker shade makes up the center bow piece (with an X symbol in the dead center) plus the belt line to the sailor fuku/skirt. Also, you can see a light blue wig peeking out of the helmet. The wig itself is a small bob cut that wraps around Mal's shape really well. The gloves have a blue outer trim before going full white. Course with this being Mega Man, one arm is equipped with the iconic Buster Cannon arm. Here, you have white, black, red and yellow make up the color scheme. Red circles are outlined in black as it goes slightly down towards the cannon opening.

Looking into the cannon itself, you can see a yellow bulb lodged inside as if Mal was getting ready to fire off some bullets. The small top with the bow has a small center part that goes into a triangle with some gold to fill in the negative space. You have what looks like some armor work down in the legs/boot department as well. Here you can see pure white with a part of it showing that dark blue color in the center. Immediately following that is the yellow trim that sharply points up. White heels/platform shoes make up the footwear. I love how in most of the photos I have to share, Malicious is rocking that iconic Sailor Scout pose with the hand gestures along with some taking on Mega Man's classic stance.

I really loved the idea that Malicious came up with in mashing up Mega Man with another iconic franchise to fit in with the theme of MAGFest. If you go to her Instagram down below, you'll find a really amazing set of cosplays she's made. And it's all done in sets of 3 so there's a LOT of cohesion with her profile. Definitely can see myself sharing more of her work down the line :). Check out her cosplays through the link below!
