Cosplay Feature: Kantasea's Rule 63 Guts!

Anime in general really isn't as huge an interest for me when comparing it to many other cosplayers I've interacted with & befriended over the years. That doesn't mean however I'm incapable of appreciating some of the insane designs that some series have for their respective cast of characters. Such is the case with Kantasea doing a gender swap of Guts, the iconic lead hero of Berserk. From what I could initially gather in the photo collection, this was done earlier this year in the lead up for a debut at Anime Expo this past summer. The full on black fit is insane in west coast weather I imagine right? I absolutely love it though and I can tell Kantasea's immense love for the character. Starting from the top, she's rocking a small length black wig with a white section towards the front. As with most heavily armored cosplays, she does have some clothes underneath for comfort along with being utilized as a base for said armor to lay on top of.

This armor isn't fully set on details being added in. I do love the curvature points being added into the breastplate and the line textures on the shoulder pieces. The long leg armor seems to have that same line pattern but also weathered to a point where it looks banged up and rusted in some areas. I wonder if black worbla was used in the armor's construction since that certainly has that easy to mold texture. Layering it up a few times absolutely captures that look.
While one arm is bare for sword wielding purposes, the other has a gauntlet of sorts fully covering her arm & hand. This definitely has a bit more detail in its construction alongside that dirty metal look to it. Like many other armored gloves, Kantasea has a base glove being worn with bits of the metal being placed across each finger. Jumping over to the sword itself, holy smokes is it massive! My best guess is that foam was the main material used in its creation. Whether that means the insulation foam or a more normal look is unknown to me. The dark brown and red coloring to it looks fantastic and I love especially the red portions alongside the blade itself. Really gives off that "dried up blood" effect as if this sword has definitely seen some action. Some of the full body shots show a glimpse of a long cape that hangs off from the back. Much like other parts to the cosplay, this piece also has some weathering added in with some small holes visible as well!

I absolutely loved seeing the pictures of this cosplay coming to life and I can tell from reading up on her posts that Kantasea has a huge love for the Berserk series alongside Guts. There's so much of her work that you all need to follow up on so check out her main social links hub down below to learn more :)
