Cosplay Feature: Wumbo's Monoco!

Photo by David Ngo Happy February! I hope you had an amazing start to your new year and that you're excited to learn about the amazing cosplays that are out there for 2026. The cosplay community usually dubs the one-two punch of MAGFest & Katsucon as the kickoff for the convention season. I spent the last month or so gathering cosplays that as of today's date, all stem from the former! I also am insanely excited that many of these I'm about to share are first time write-ups for the creators themselves. Today, you get a look at Wumbo's masterful recreation of known feet lover Monoco from 2025's Game of the Year, Expedition 33! In looking at some of the photo posts on her instagram, she made all of this by herself so I don't have to worry about adding in extra creators who may have assisted with design files etc. Quick backstory, Monoco is the last party member you add to your team who's a longtime friend of Verso and gained a grasp on the English language...

Cosplay Feature: Ravy Nevermore's Jenova!

Hi! For today's post I wanted to wind the clock back to my time at PAX East earlier this year. The event itself for 2025 was taken place during Mother's Day. So you can imagine the laugh I let out when in passing, I saw a cosplayer dressed up as Jenova--the sentient alien monster--from Final Fantasy VII. As being the self proclaimed "mother" of everyone's favorite One-Winged Angel, the timing of wearing this on the holiday itself was just perfect. So I'd like you to meet Ravy Nevermore as I dive further into this cosplay. At first glance on the pictures, the cosplay looks extremely comfortable and simple but much like others of this nature, it's the added attention to details that really make this cosplay so amazing. The main focus has this overly gray piece seemingly have separate elements as well as being overlayed on areas mostly for the legs and footwear.

The sleeves on this cosplay are overly long and full blown stained with red to mimic blood if I had to guess. One of the stand out pieces to this cosplay has to be the tube sticking out of Ravy in the stomach area. That includes a silver piece with cloth sticking out of her like a detached tube. The fabric is dyed red but given a gradient like effect. It also was worked with to give off that folded organic look to it. Then you have the head piece which is laid on top of a ghostly white wig. The head piece is silver in color with several knobs on the top and circles laid out in front. You also get a view of several black tubes coming out the top.

There's also a glimpse at what looks to be a brain of sorts at the very top. Talk about eerie & creepy right? You also have a plain white sign with the words "Call Your Mother" that Ravy wore around her next during PAX East on Mother's Day itself. Again, just top tier planning in my eyes. Most of the shots you'll see show Ravy sporting Jenova's signature pose with both arms stretched outward on each side. Almost giving a limp-like feel to them.

Oh! I forgot to mention that the head piece also includes Jenova's name plate in the dead center as seen in every iteration of Final Fantasy VII when the party first finds her in the game.
