Cosplay Feature: Shir0gami's Meta Knight!

Photo by RandomBystanderHere As someone who both is a huge fan of Meta Knight as a character in addition to having cosplayed as him years ago, I am ALWAYS gonna shout about any other takes on the famed swordsman. Shir0gami is one such person and created an amazing gijinka of him for this past MAGFest (yep, still on that event!). It's funny how for Shiro, Kirby Air Ride was her first exposure to the character as noted in one of her pinned posts on Instagram. Starting off the cosplay, you have Meta Knight's imposing mask which is the form taken for this cosplay. Shiro has a face mask done perfectly for MK in both the design and grey coloring. The visor slit gives her the ability to see which hopefully she was while in movement. Man, it's hard for me to not compare it to mine years ago and how what I made is vastly inferior to this XD. After the visor, you then have the iconic cape which includes to high propped up collar. This portion has a white layer for the opposite side t...

Cosplay Feature: CutiePieSensei's Shadow the Hedgehog!

When I saw this cosplay first popping up online from CutiePieSensei, I absolutely needed to write about it. Though at the time not too many finished shots were taken plus I believe some pics were more BTS-centered. In any case, with Sonic 3 recently being released on streaming platforms last month, I felt it was the perfect time to share Cutie's Shadow gijinka. Throughout my time writing this blog, I've stated how gijinkas overall are one of my favorite forms of cosplay expression. Interpreting an animal-based character can really go on endlessly whether it's from an artist you commissioned a design from, detailing ideas yourself OR putting themed spins on the character. This look is most likely stemmed from Cutie's own mind which makes sense given the sort of things she's done in the past like create a line of bikini-wear based on characters.

Actually as I was typing up and looking at the images more, I remembered a portion of details shared which makes me more inclined to think that this could totally work at a roller derby. I want to start from the bottom up cause that's where the cleverness starts. The shoes themselves are black shoes with a heavy feel acting as a base with the white and red sections being placed on top of them. The pieces are segmented off perfectly and the black of the base shoe is nearly full covered. Towards the entrance part of the shoe you have a ring placed around with a red tongue-like piece sticking out upward.

Then you have long leggings/socks with a red stripe going down each side and a gold trim at the top. Tights make up the remainder of Cutie's legs before the main leotard element comes into play. The ends have a small gold trim outlining them before you get to the full black portion which makes up the middle area. Much like other parts of the cosplay, red stripes always take the side position. There's also a shot of her backside which gives off a glimpse of the hedgehog tail. Shadow's tuft of white fur is smack dab in the middle of this full piece and more raised up towards the chest area.

Much like how the legs were done, Cutie's arms also consist of long black sleeves with red traveling down the sides. Then you have what looks like bulky cuffs that also have those same colors with some gold nubs placed. White fingerless gloves cover the hands which brings to mind my own Shadow cosplay I did many years ago! Arguably one of the other show stopper parts of the cosplay has to be the massive wig on display. The front portion is all black with a small strand of red hair down a middle bang. Then you have ears sticking out at the top before extremely big and fluffy spikes take control. Red streaks are present on each spine at their tops. Upon double checking her Instagram for details, the wig itself was done by Rentchan on IG. I can't get over how insane this looks. I also have other shots to share so go take a look!

Shots taken by Mr. CutiePieSensei

If you go to CutiePieSensei's Instagram down below you can find a fantastic time-lapse video of how the shoes were made. A look at the EVA Foam used in addition to some light up features! I also forgot to mention how I love the giant ring & Chaos Emerald props used in the photoshoot! Hope you all enjoyed this piece. :D
