It really amazes me when cosplayers just outright make and debut a cosplay that's just insanely detailed and impressive. Jenna Lynn Meowri who I've adored with her work for such a long time really stunned me with her Malenia from Elden Ring. The long developed title from the Souls games really upended the formula, taking cues from other open-world games like Breath of the Wild to give players something new & exciting. What's also a constant with these games are the boss designs. Malenia long plagued players and I can only imagine that her design is what drew Jenna to cosplaying her. There's definitely a lot of intricacies with this cosplay, from the long coat piece to the armored pieces adorning one full arm on top of the helmet. Where does one even begin with describing this cosplay? Well, guess that's why I'm here with this piece right?

Starting with the helmet, it's an interesting shape that slopes downward in a visor like shape. I can't tell when Jenna wears the helmet that if she's fully blind or has small spots to see out of. Towards the back of the helmet you have wings which have a pattern that blends in perfectly with the bars that outline the main portion of the helm. There's also a slight downward extension that you can see at the bottom of this piece. Jenna usually has red/orange hair (from what I've seen, of course she changes its colors now and then) so it's a toss up if she used her actual hair or a deep red wig. Either way it's a perfect fit!
Immediately following this is a fur piece that looks to be covering her full neck followed by a red cloth. After that is where we get into the main cloak piece. Here it's a dark brown shade with a lighter brown sash coming across Jenna's chest. Back to the cloak, you can see hints of another piece of clothing Jenna's wearing underneath and based on the photos I have plus her posture, I'm venturing a guess that it's some sort of corset. Another rope like sash is wrapped around her torso and then you have a variety of hoops dangling off the trim of the cloak. Necklace chains look to be attached to the rope sash I mentioned earlier too!

Positioned in the middle of the cloak in an opening is a long piece of chainmail that drapes all the way down to what looks like her boots. Some of the shots also reveal that the plain red cloth I mentioned earlier is more like a full on cape for her back side. The main brown piece also travels down towards the same place the chainmail does. One of the other standout parts of this cosplay is absolutely the full arm covered in armor. The way it's designed and shown almost make it look like Malenia's part robotic. There's her upper forearm having one portion, then her main arm, ending with what looks to be a dark glove adorned by armor pieces. I imagine all of these pieces were done in some combination with EVA foam or Worbla. There's also a possibility that some of these were done with others helping in the form of 3D print files? I couldn't find that info out from searching for these pics. The armor pieces have an extreme rustic texture to them, more so than the helmet piece.

Can we talk about that sword though? Jenna's just straight up holding the blade down towards its bottom which I figure is what Malenia does, hence the armored up glove/hand. Actually, as I'm zooming in on the photos, the blade itself is attached at the bottom to her armored hand 0-0. Good god this character is intense, ok maybe I'm starting to see the appeal to Elden Ring. The blade itself looks intensely fine in its curvature along with the rune carvings that decorate it. If you thought that was everything there's still more to this cosplay!! Her other arm is laid bare with some makeup/effects done to imitate the Scarlet Rot disease that she's afflicted with (also can be caught in game!) and it looks absolutely gnarly.
Finally getting towards her legs, one of them is bare with that same rot effect/makeup (or it could be a covering done with said makeup!) followed by a full plain white armor cover. The top portion of this is that same brown rustic covering that makes up the other armor pieces. Some glimpses can be seen of Jenna's footwear which again has that same design to them. Layered up and masterfully painted. The other leg has a similar setup but the white portion is extended more so.

It's definitely been awhile since I had a blog piece go for this long. But I just wanted to make sure I captured every element of this cosplay that Jenna slaved away on. Without a doubt she's been a creator that I've followed/admired for so long and miss seeing at conventions (happy I got to spend some time with her at PAX East this year!). She was teasing that she's working on something big for Dragon*Con this year and yep she didn't disappoint with her lineup of cosplays! Also hoping I get to have her on my podcast this year and she did express some interest so maybe after that con we can set something up! Until then, please go give Jenna some love for me and gush over her work by following the link below. You won't be disappointed, I promise :)
