Cosplay Feature: Shir0gami's Meta Knight!

As someone who both is a huge fan of Meta Knight as a character in addition to having cosplayed as him years ago, I am ALWAYS gonna shout about any other takes on the famed swordsman. Shir0gami is one such person and created an amazing gijinka of him for this past MAGFest (yep, still on that event!). It's funny how for Shiro, Kirby Air Ride was her first exposure to the character as noted in one of her pinned posts on Instagram. Starting off the cosplay, you have Meta Knight's imposing mask which is the form taken for this cosplay. Shiro has a face mask done perfectly for MK in both the design and grey coloring. The visor slit gives her the ability to see which hopefully she was while in movement. Man, it's hard for me to not compare it to mine years ago and how what I made is vastly inferior to this XD. After the visor, you then have the iconic cape which includes to high propped up collar. This portion has a white layer for the opposite side that's shown prominently. The rest of this gorgeous cape is of a deep blue shade and texture wise very much reminds me of velvet.

All the shots I managed to find for this cosplay do a fantastic job in showcasing the full scope of the outfit. Traveling from the collar, you get a look at the rounded shoulder pieces that she made which are just so so perfect you guys. Sorry I'm full blown fangirling at how rad she looks. The shoulder pieces are full blue with one of them including Meta Knight's insignia in silver. A gold trim can be seen all along the edges. Note that this trim makes a repeat appearance in the other armor sets plus the cape alongside the bottom. Shiro has long white gloves for her hands that act as a base before you look at the grey metal armor/gauntlets that travel around her arm.

You can see the straps underneath which do a great job at holding them in place! Next up you have this insanely awesome breastplate design with what I can assume is the Halberd's overall shape plastered across the center in gold. Blue is also present as a core color. The chest piece extends slightly down and wraps around Shiro fully. My best guess is that a plain black bra was used as the base with the armor (either Worbla or EVA?) being attached on top. That makes sense given it's standard for these types of chest pieces and how they're made. I know I've definitely mentioned this method countless times with other cosplayers. Can I just say I LOVE both the red gem that's in the dead center calling back to the one in Galaxia IN ADDITION to the freaking battle marks/scratches on the breastplate itself? Like that's so badass?!

For pants, Shiro has a blue skirt like piece with gold trim on the ends. A gold belt is seen around her waist and sort of loosely hanging. A red gem also seen in the dead center. Prop wise, Shiro made a perfect recreation of Meta Knight's sword Galaxia. I really love the depth that the bevel adds to the main blade. Pure gold in color with the four spikes extending out from the sides. The handle itself is more orange/brown with the more iconic red gem placed on the hilt. Quick sidenote as I'm looking at these photos, I wonder if Shiro has like a very faint/see-through black film on the slit in the mask cause the shots kinda show that area being slightly darker. Either that or she has some added eye makeup.

Getting back to the run-down, we come to the footwear. Black platform like heels make up the base before a super rich shade of purple is laid on top. I love the armor design for the footwear and how each part was shaped to capture the upwards points that Meta Knight's shoes have. The metal like purple paint is just perfect. Shiro's pose work really does a great job showing her towering figure in addition to incorporating just how badass and long that cape is. The various paint jobs on on the armor do a great job showcasing weathered like effects. Other parts also have battle nicks/scratches!

If you haven't realized by now, I truly adore this cosplay and I hope you all do as well. PLEASE go follow Shir0gami's work over on her Instagram for more builds/characters!
