Cosplay Feature: Gray Oranges' Rikku!

Photo by David Ngo I won't ever shy away from writing about cosplays of Rikku's look from Final Fantasy X-2 and Gray Orange did a fantastic job portraying her in both the overall cosplay look PLUS the pose work. Of course I'll get to all that in due time but let's start at the top! It's certainly a cosplay worn for several events and I want to say I first saw this in the overall collection of MAGFest photos back in January of this year. I really love how the multiple braid strands are integrated into the blonde wig for starters. I can't tell if they're either part of the wig itself or the blue headband that's wrapped around. In any case, following this is a red scarf wrapped around Irini's neck before you then get to the yellow bikini top. Here, you can also see orange trim lines as part of the piece. Oh, I forgot to mention that the red scarf actually travels all the way down to her legs. These end points then transition to a yellow/orange gradient!

Cosplay Progress: Steampunk Nightwing and Riddler

One of the cosplays I'm working on for this year is a Steampunk version of Nightwing alongside my Dad who wants to do a Steampunk Riddler. This idea came about after NYCC 2013 when my Dad was incredibly interested in the idea of steampunk so much that he wanted to create a costume. The Riddler was the first thing that came to his mind. At RI Comic Con last year we told this idea to Jessica Nigri who not only loved the idea but then suggested to me that I try my hand at a Steampunk version of Nightwing to go along with it, and thus the whole plan was set!

At this moment our weapons/props are done and Dad has a fancy Hat he ordered online from one of the vendors he saw last year. Below are all the progress pictures I've posted on Twitter and my cosplay page so I hope you guys enjoy them! What's left for me is the goggles, a leather aviator hat which I picked out and need to buy and cufflinks to make. The rest I can do with clothes at my house! Dad has a whip being made alongside his cane and he also needs to create gears for the outfit as well as a vest and matching pants/shoes.
